“Together for
Girls – We Can End Sexual Violence”
BD Executive Vice President Gary Cohen is helping to lead, “Together for Girls,” a global initiative to address rights violations and long-term health impacts resulting from sexual violence against girls. “Together for Girls” is a collaboration between the U.S . Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, UNICEF, UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNIFEM, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation, the Nduna Foundation, BD and Grupo ABC of Brazil, as well as PEPFAR and the U.S. State Department’s Office of Global Women’s Issues. Gary Cohen initially became involved in this initiative through his roles as board director of the CDC Foundation and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. He recently published an Op-Ed in The Huffington Post, entitled “Sexual Violence Against Girls: A Pathway for the Spread of AIDS That Must Stop.”
